Valencia have appointed Carlos Corberan as team manager on a two-and-a-half-year agreement following the Spaniard’s exit from West Bromwich Albion, the floundering LaLiga side announced.
Corberan spent three seasons at Leeds United as their Under-23 trainer and a part of Marcelo Bielsa’s support crew, before becoming Huddersfield Town boss in 2020.
The 41-year-old, who has since led Olympiakos Piraeus and West Brom, also earlier competed for Valencia’s academy squad.
“Carlos Corberan becomes the latest Valencia CF manager until 2027,” Valencia declared in a notice on Tuesday.
“The team has notified West Bromwich Albion FC of the activation of the release clause outlined in his contract to depart the English side.”
Corberan succeeds Ruben Baraja, who was dismissed on Monday with Valencia second from the bottom in the rankings on 12 points with only two victories in 17 league matches and four points from the safety margin.
Valencia, who have a game in reserve, next face second-ranked Real Madrid at home on Jan. 3, a rearranged match after the initial meeting was delayed due to inundation last month.
