John Terry has delivered his Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest verdict and he’s backing the Blues to edge it.
Chelsea host Forest at Stamford Bridge on Monday afternoon. The Blues returned to winning ways last weekend with a 1-0 FA Cup semi final win over Leeds at Wembley. But the league? That’s been a different story.
Chelsea have lost their last five league games. Without scoring. They’re currently sitting ninth in the Premier League.
A first league win since March would send them sixth. But here’s the problem: Chelsea haven’t beaten Forest at home since the visitors returned to the Premier League.
‘MUCH NEEDED WIN FOR US’
Terry, never one to shy away from a prediction, gave his verdict on TikTok.
“Much needed win for us,” he said.
“So, I’m going to go for a 2-1 Chelsea win. Hopefully Reece James and Levi Colwill can be back in the squad.
“That’s going to be a big boost for us before the end of the season.”
MCFARLANE’S FIRST HOME GAME IN CHARGE
This will be Calum McFarlane’s first game in charge at Stamford Bridge. He’s had a decent start, that FA Cup semi final win was huge.
But Chelsea’s home record this season is poor. Just six league wins at the Bridge all campaign. That’s not good enough for a club of this size.
McFarlane has confirmed James and Colwill are back in training. They could be part of the matchday squad. That’s a lift, two big personalities returning at a crucial time.
FOREST HAVE ONE EYE ON EUROPE?
Nottingham Forest have bigger fish to fry. They’ve got the second leg of their Europa League semi final next week. Will that affect their focus on Monday?
Maybe. Maybe not. But Terry clearly thinks Chelsea can take advantage.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Chelsea need a league win. Desperately. Five straight defeats without a goal is relegation form, except they’re nowhere near the bottom three.
But the fans are restless. The season is fizzling out. A win against Forest would at least give McFarlane something to build on.
Terry reckons 2-1. Reece James back in the squad. Colwill on the bench. A much needed win.
We’ll find out Monday afternoon.
