Moise Kean netted his 12th competitive strike of the campaign to help Fiorentina stretch their victorious streak to seven Serie A games with a 2-0 triumph over a struggling Como squad.

Having emerged as possible title challengers, a confident Fiorentina outfit needed only 19 minutes to showcase their strength against relegation-threatened Como. Yacine Adli pounced on Lucas Beltrán’s pass on the edge of the penalty area to unleash a powerful shot past Emil Audero, who might have been disheartened by his inability to stop the effort. Adli’s third goal of the campaign turned out to be one of just two attempts on target in a cautious opening half at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, ensuring that Fiorentina carried a narrow lead into the halftime break.

After facing little pressure in the opening period, Fiorentina goalkeeper David de Gea was called into action around the hour mark. The Spaniard pulled off two excellent saves in rapid succession to block efforts from Edoardo Goldaniga and Federico Barba, before he pushed the loose ball away to remove the threat. Fiorentina seemingly responded to that warning issued by Como as they soon went on the offensive to extend their lead through Moise Kean. Fiorentina’s leading scorer executed a first-time shot from Riccardo Sottil’s low delivery to direct the ball into the top corner at the near post.

With the clock ticking down, Patrick Cutrone tried to assist his team in setting up a dramatic conclusion when he whipped in a threatening inswinging cross, only to witness his effort miss Andrea Belotti’s head and the far post by mere inches. However, it eventually proved to be a frustrating day for Como, which boiled over when Alberto Dossena received a late red card for striking Adli’s face.

As a consequence of the defeat, Cesc Fàbregas’ team are now winless in seven matches and just one point above the relegation zone. For Fiorentina’s part, they move level with Atalanta and Inter Milan at the summit of the table as they continue to aspire for an unlikely title challenge.
