LEEDS, June 30, 2026. Leeds United are poised for a significant financial boost this summer, with former academy graduate Charlie Cresswell attracting serious interest from Premier League side Crystal Palace and other clubs across Europe.
The centre back, who left Elland Road for Toulouse two years ago in a deal worth less than £4m, has established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable defenders. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Toulouse now valuing the 23 year old at around £25m amid mounting transfer speculation .
Crystal Palace are understood to be leading the chase, with another unnamed English club and French side Rennes also monitoring the situation . Should Toulouse agree to part with their prized asset, Leeds stand to benefit handsomely.
Sell on clause set to trigger
Leeds negotiated a 15 per cent sell on fee as part of the agreement that took Cresswell to France, applicable to any profit Toulouse make on the deal. With the French club having paid less than £4m for his services, a £25m sale would net Leeds in excess of £3m .
That figure would take the total return for the academy graduate to beyond £7m, a significant return for a player who came through the club’s youth system .
The timing is particularly welcome for the 49ers Enterprises ownership, who have made clear that squad cost ratio regulations will limit their spending in the summer window. Any additional income generated through sell on clauses will provide welcome flexibility as Daniel Farke looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign .
