Real Madrid have drawn up contingency plans should their pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise fail, with Yan Diomande and Ayyoub Bouaddi identified as alternative targets following their impressive World Cup displays.
Florentino Perez has made Olise his priority signing as he seeks to strengthen the right flank, with the French international viewed as the ideal long term successor to Vinicius Jr, whose contract expires in 2027 with no renewal agreement in sight . However, Bayern have issued a definitive hands off warning.
Bayern’s firm stance
The Bundesliga champions have made their position unequivocal. Club president Herbert Hainer recently told BILD: “Michael Olise is a Bayern player and has a long term contract. We are not a selling club. If Florentino Perez wants to send us an offer which hasn’t happened so far, he can save himself the trouble.”
Reports suggest Bayern are actively working to extend Olise’s contract and double his salary, further complicating any potential approach . Sources indicate the German club would reject a first, second and third bid for the French winger, regardless of the fee offered .
World Cup alternatives identified
According to journalist Ramon Alvarez, the message from within Real Madrid is clear: if the Olise deal cannot be done, Perez intends to sign one of the standout performers of the World Cup instead .
Yan Diomande has emerged as the primary alternative. The 19 year old RB Leipzig winger has been a revelation at the tournament, catching the eye of Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat, who was present at Ivory Coast’s matches to monitor his progress .
Diomande enjoyed a sensational debut Bundesliga season with 12 goals and eight assists, completing more dribbles than any other player in the division . The teenager, who joined Leipzig from Leganes for €20 million in 2025, is understood to favour a move to the Bernabeu over interest from Liverpool and PSG . However, Leipzig would demand a fee in the region of €120 million .
Ayyoub Bouaddi is the other name under consideration. The 18 year old Lille midfielder caught the eye with a commanding display against Brazil, and while Lille want to keep him after qualifying for the Champions League, they are aware his World Cup performances could prompt offers of around €80 million .
Vinicius uncertainty fuels search
The urgency to identify alternatives is driven by uncertainty surrounding Vinicius Jr’s future. The Brazilian’s contract expires in 2027, and renewal talks have stalled with no agreement in sight despite negotiations dragging on since early 2025 . The club are unwilling to ignore the possibility of losing one of their biggest stars and have been forced to consider eventualities .
