HULL. Hull City have made a formal approach for Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, tabling an offer in the region of £12/14 million for the Belgium international, according to reports .

The Tigers, who secured promotion to the Premier League via the play off final, are keen to bolster their midfield options ahead of their return to the top flight . However, the bid is understood to fall short of Rangers’ valuation, with the Ibrox club seeking closer to £20 million for the 25 year old .

The Scottish club are believed to be expecting to reject the proposal, holding the upper hand in negotiations amid interest from a number of other suitors . Raskin, currently on World Cup duty with Belgium, has attracted attention from Serie A sides Atalanta and Bologna, while Tottenham are also understood to be monitoring his situation .

Financial pressures and departure talk

Hull’s pursuit comes amid their need to address financial regulations, with the club facing a potential six point deduction unless they generate approximately £6 million of income before the end of June . It remains unclear whether the Tigers will return with an improved offer.

Raskin, who has been at Ibrox since January 2023, has reportedly decided to leave Rangers this summer . The Belgian has featured twice at the World Cup, starting against Egypt before being substituted before the hour mark in Belgium’s clash with Iran . His performances on the global stage have further increased his market value .

Meanwhile, Rangers are also reshaping their squad under new manager Derek McInnes, who was unveiled at Ibrox this week. The club have already secured the return of defender Ross McCrorie from Bristol City for a fee of approximately £900,000 .
