LONDON, June 24 Natalia Rodrigues, wife of Barcelona winger Raphinha, has strongly denied suggestions that the Brazil international is considering a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia due to financial difficulties, describing the claims as “absurd.”
The rumours originated from a podcast in which former Brazil midfielder Vampeta suggested Raphinha might be tempted by a big money move to ease his family’s financial situation. The claims were swiftly rejected by Raphinha’s cousin, and Rodrigues has now spoken publicly to set the record straight.
“Honestly, I think it’s absurd that I have to talk about my financial life. If we were earning just 10% of what Raphinha earns right now, we’d already be incredibly blessed,” she told Daily do Garotinho.
“I see no need to expose this on my social media, because I’m fully aware of the social reality we live in. If I made a post saying: ‘Look, I’m not poor, I’m still rich,’ they’d call me classless.
“I thought the story would die down, but these rumours have already reached Spain, and everyone thinks we’re struggling.”
Raphinha is currently focused on recovering from injury in time to feature again for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup. The winger has been an important part of the national team setup and is working to regain full fitness ahead of the knockout stages.
The Barcelona star remains under contract at Camp Nou and has not indicated any desire to leave. Rodrigues’ comments suggest the family are content with their current situation and have no interest in a move driven by financial necessity.
The denial offers a firm end to a rumour that had gained traction in Brazil and Spain, and reinforces that Raphinha’s immediate priority is international duty, not a transfer.
