Tottenham are pushing ahead with a deal for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, but reports linking Mason Greenwood with a move to North London have been dismissed as “utterly absurd” by a Spurs insider.
🎯 Spurs determined to land Tonali
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham are working on a deal for Sandro Tonali . The midfielder is said to be open to the move, with Roberto De Zerbi driving the pursuit .
“Tottenham are working on a deal for Sandro Tonali. Tottenham are aware of the player being open to joining. THFC determined to get the deal done. Spurs keep pushing. De Zerbi wants him.” Fabrizio Romano
Spurs have already completed the free transfers of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, plus a reported £52m deal for Brighton centre back Jan Paul van Hecke . Manchester City winger Savinho is also a top target as De Zerbi looks to reshape the squad after two successive 17th place finishes .
🚫 Greenwood links rubbished
Despite recent speculation that Tottenham were considering a move for the former Manchester United winger, the club have firmly shut down the rumours .
Alasdair Gold, a Tottenham insider with strong ties to the club, called the links “utterly absurd” and stated that Spurs hold “no interest” in signing Greenwood . This comes after De Zerbi previously came under fire for comments he made about the player during his time at Marseille, with the Tottenham boss later apologising .
Romano also dismissed the reports, posting on X: “Tottenham are not working on a deal to sign Mason Greenwood despite reports” .
📋 What’s next for Spurs
Tottenham’s immediate focus remains on landing Tonali, with midfield reinforcements and forward options like Savinho the priority . The club are determined to avoid a third consecutive relegation battle and are backing De Zerbi with significant spending this summer.
