Udinese will demand €25million to sell Thomas Kristensen this summer. That’s the asking price for the 24 year old Danish centre back, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web.
Aston Villa are among the clubs sniffing around. And the player himself has hinted he’s ready to move on.
‘A MOVE TO A BIGGER CLUB, I WOULDN’T RULE IT OUT’
Kristensen hasn’t exactly been subtle about his ambitions.
“When I arrived, we had a plan that called for me to play for a certain period, before evaluating a possible move to a bigger club,” he said.
“It’s clear, therefore, that we’re planning to take a further step forward. I wouldn’t rule out a move to a club that plays in Europe.
“In the short term, it’s quite likely that the next step will be a move to a bigger club, one that could even play in Europe. I wouldn’t rule it out.”
That’s not a hint. That’s a statement of intent.
WHO IS THOMAS KRISTENSEN?
The 24 year old joined Udinese from Aarhus GF in September 2023. Since then, he’s quietly established himself as one of Serie A’s most underrated defenders.
Over 50 appearances for the Friuliani. Four goals. One assist. Solid numbers for a centre back.
His progress has provoked interest from several well known clubs. Aston Villa are among them.
WHY VILLA NEED A CENTRE-BACK
This makes sense for Unai Emery’s side. Tyrone Mings is getting on. Recent reports suggest a summer departure could be on the cards for the veteran English defender.
Victor Lindelof is also approaching the twilight of his career. And Pau Torres has been linked with a move away from Villa Park.
So Villa need at least one centre back this summer. Kristensen fits the profile.
THE PRICE TAG, A BARGAIN?
€25million. In today’s market, that’s not outrageous. Especially for a 24 year old with Serie A experience and room to grow.
Kristensen may not be the only centre back on Villa’s radar. Axel Disasi has also been linked. But the Dane is clearly a viable target.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Udinese have set their price. Kristensen wants to move. Villa need a defender.
€25m. A player who’s ready for the next step. A club with European ambitions.
This one writes itself. Now it’s down to whether Villa pay up or get priced out.
The Dane has spoken. The ball is in Udinese’s court. And Villa’s cheque book is waiting.
