Real Madrid are planning to bring Toni Kroos back to the club not as a player, but as a key figure in the sporting structure, with Florentino Perez personally driving the move to reunite the German legend with his beloved Bernabeu.

According to AS, the consensus at Valdebebas is that Kroos’s return will “make all the difference.” The exact role and remit are still being defined, but the move itself is confirmed. The German is coming home.

Not a player but he could be

Let us be clear. Kroos is not being brought back to pull on the white shirt. He retired at the absolute peak, walking away after lifting his sixth Champions League trophy. The image of him leaving the Bernabeu, the crowd weeping, still lingers.

But here is the thing. Club officials believe he could still play if asked. He is that fit. That dedicated. That good.

The plan, however, is different. Kroos will return to leverage his influence in the current midfield, support Alvaro Arbeloa and his former teammates, and help accelerate the club’s growth behind the scenes.

Perez’s personal mission

The relationship between Kroos and the president remains exemplary. There are no lingering issues from his playing days, no bitterness about his farewell, no distance from his time away.

Perez is personally driving this move. He wants Kroos back. And what Perez wants, Perez usually gets.

Kroos has already settled in the Spanish capital with his family. He has opened a football academy in Boadilla del Monte and has visited Valdebebas twice in recent weeks with his academy sides to face Real Madrid. The foundations are already there.

What role will he play?

That is still being defined. But the broad outline is clear: Kroos will be integrated into the club’s sporting structure, working closely with the current squad and coaching staff.

His intelligence. His reading of the game. His ability to control tempo and dictate matches. Those are not just playing attributes, they are coaching attributes. Leadership attributes.

Real Madrid believe that having Kroos around Valdebebas will be transformative for the current generation of midfielders. Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, all of them stand to benefit.

The timing

The return is scheduled for the start of next season. The move is seen as crucial. Even before the specific role is confirmed, the club is convinced that Kroos’s input will accelerate the organisation’s growth.

It has been two years since he left. The void has been felt. Now, Real Madrid are doing something about it.

The bottom line

Toni Kroos is coming back. Not to play. But to lead. To teach. To guide.

Perez is driving it. Arbeloa wants it. The club needs it.

The exact job title is still to be decided. But the impact? That is already being felt. And when Kroos walks back into Valdebebas next season, do not be surprised if Real Madrid start winning things again. He has that effect.
