Andre Onana’s Manchester United exit is edging closer after Trabzonspor’s president claimed the goalkeeper’s financial demands have been met.

The 30 year old linked up with the Turkish side in September 2025 on a season long loan deal. His switch to Papara Park came days after he started in the Red Devils’ humiliating Carabao Cup second round defeat away to League Two outfit Grimsby Town.

But despite making a howler shortly into his Trabzonspor debut, he ended up becoming a firm fan favourite.

A successful loan spell

Onana featured in 29 Turkish top flight matches, keeping six clean sheets to help his side finish third. He also ensured it was a season to remember after lifting the Turkish Cup, starting in the 2-1 final victory over Konyaspor.

The former Inter Milan shot stopper has recently seen his United salary receive an increase of around 25 per cent due to Michael Carrick’s men securing Champions League qualification.

But while he regained form and confidence on loan, talkSPORT understands United still plan to sell the Cameroon international this summer. Belgium shot stopper Senne Lammens has been an instant hit at Old Trafford since arriving from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.

Trabzonspor desperate to keep him

Despite rumours that Besiktas are looking to secure Onana’s services, Trabzonspor are desperate to turn his temporary stay into a permanent switch. No agreement regarding a fee has yet been reached between the clubs.

But club president Ertugrul Dogan has insisted that personal terms will not be an issue.

“I think Andre Onana will stay with the team, we’ve met his financial demands,” he told Ajansspor.

“The fans like him too, he’s a decent bloke, I don’t think we’ll have any problems.

“I don’t think he’ll find the same level of interest in him anywhere else.

“So I think he’ll stay with the team.”

The numbers that defined his United career

Onana arrived at the Theatre of Dreams from Inter Milan in a £47.2m deal, one month after the Italian giants lost to Manchester City in the Champions League final.

But despite winning the FA Cup in his opening season in England, Onana was marred by consistent errors. From his 102 outings across all competitions, he shipped a whopping 150 goals, keeping just 24 clean sheets.

A host of departures

Should Onana depart United, he will follow a host of high profile names already out the door. It was confirmed last week that striker Rasmus Hojlund, who joined alongside Onana in 2023, completed a permanent move to Napoli after his loan spell.

Along with Onana and Hojlund, United also named six players that will be departing as free agents when their contracts expire at the end of June. They include Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, while Marcus Rashford still faces an uncertain future after helping Barcelona win the LaLiga title during his loan stay.

The bottom line

Onana’s United career: 102 games, 150 goals conceded, 24 clean sheets, one FA Cup. And a loan spell that saved his career.

Now Trabzonspor want him permanently. The president says his financial demands are met. United are ready to sell.

The fee still needs to be agreed. But the writing is on the wall.

Onana is heading out. Lammens is taking over. And United’s summer rebuild continues.
