Curtis Jones offered a brutally honest assessment of Liverpool’s alarming slump after the Reds crashed to a 4–1 defeat against PSV at Anfield in the Champions League, their ninth loss in 12 matches across all competitions.
Fresh off a strong 2024/25 campaign and a heavy summer spend, Liverpool’s implosion has left supporters stunned. And even those in the dressing room are struggling to make sense of the collapse.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, Jones admitted he was at a loss for words as the boos rang around Anfield.
“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. It’s just unacceptable,” the midfielder said. “I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”
The 24 year old insisted the squad must dig themselves out of the mess, with Liverpool now facing serious questions about their direction under mounting pressure.
“We’re going to try and get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world,” he added. “But right now, we’re in the sh** and it needs to change.”
The defeat leaves Liverpool’s European hopes hanging by a thread and adds another chapter to what is rapidly becoming a season to forget.
