LONDON, June 30, 2026. Fresh from ending their 22 year wait for a Premier League title, Arsenal are preparing to flex their financial muscle in the summer transfer market, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers emerging as the club’s primary target.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are understood to have been handed a substantial war chest as the Gunners look to build on last season’s domestic triumph and their run to the Champions League final. The club has already made its first move by converting Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent £34.5m deal, but that appears to be merely the opening salvo in what promises to be a busy window .

Rogers tops Arteta’s wishlist
Arsenal are leading the race to sign Rogers, with Arteta believed to view the 23 year old as a significant upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, who shared duties on the left flank last season . The England international, currently at the World Cup, scored 14 goals in all competitions last term and has attracted interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

The Gunners are confident they hold the advantage in negotiations, having already informed Rogers’s camp that they are prepared to make a substantial financial commitment to secure his signature . However, Aston Villa are determined not to part with one of their prized assets easily. Reports suggest Villa have set a valuation of £130m for the playmaker, a figure that would surpass the British transfer record . Villa are understood to be particularly reluctant sellers given they would be obliged to hand 20 per cent of any fee to Middlesbrough due to a sell-on clause .

Unai Emery, speaking recently about the speculation surrounding his player, said: “He has improved massively, he is hungry, humble and still has so much room to grow. My message to Morgan is simple: continue here, continue developing and the future will come naturally.”

Yildiz emerges as ‘dream’ alternative
Arteta’s hopes of bolstering his attacking options have also received a boost following Turkey’s early World Cup exit. Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz is now free to hold talks over a potential move without international distractions .

The 21 year old, named Serie A’s Best Under 23 Player last season after registering 10 goals and six assists in 33 league appearances, is reportedly regarded by Arteta as his “dream signing” . Juventus are believed to value Yildiz at around €100m (£86m), with Arsenal prepared to battle Liverpool and Real Madrid for his signature . The player, who signed a new contract with Juventus until 2030 in February, is said to view a move to the Emirates as a “welcome destination” .

With Arsenal’s attacking options set for a refresh, several players could depart. Martinelli and Trossard are both understood to be available, while questions persist over the future of club captain Martin Odegaard, who endured a difficult campaign in terms of output .
