Real Madrid are plotting a move for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande with Jose Mourinho seeing the Ivorian as a preferred replacement for Vinicius Junior.
According to a report from Bild, the incoming Portuguese tactician has already drawn up his transfer plans. On that list is the 19 year old winger, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm in his debut campaign.
The news comes just hours after Fabrizio Romano reported that both Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool are in talks with Diomande’s representatives over a summer move.
€150m price tag
According to Sport Bild, Leipzig want to extend Diomande’s contract beyond 2030. But the teenager isn’t considered ‘unsellable’.
Should Leipzig receive an offer in the region of €150m, it’s going to be difficult for the Bundesliga side to turn down. That fee would become realistic with a strong World Cup performance.
Diomande is coming off the back of a strong maiden campaign in Germany’s top flight: 12 goals and nine assists in 33 appearances.
‘Anything can happen’
Speaking on his future earlier this month, Diomande said: “I don’t think about it too much because my focus is on the pitch. My job is playing football, that takes care of everything.”
While his focus is on the World Cup and playing Champions League football with Leipzig, the Ivorian added: “Anything can happen in football.”
The bottom line
Real Madrid. Liverpool. PSG. Three European giants circling a 19 year old who has just completed his first season in top flight football.
Vinicius Junior could leave. Diomande could replace him. The price tag is €150m.
Leipzig want to keep him. But “anything can happen.”
The World Cup will decide a lot. So will the size of the offers. One thing is certain: Diomande is the hottest property on the market right now. And the race for his signature is only just beginning.
