Dan Ndoye’s move to Nottingham Forest has been a flop. Now Roma could offer him an escape route.
The Swiss attacker joined Forest from Bologna last summer. Big hopes. Big expectations. It hasn’t worked out. At all.
Now, according to Gianluigi Longari, Ndoye has been offered to the Roman side. Inter Milan have previously been linked. But Roma are the ones being circled.
The Zirkzee situation
Roma’s priority remains Joshua Zirkzee. The Manchester United forward is still very much a target for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
But Ndoye is an option. A backup. A contingency. He’s been offered. The question is whether Roma are interested enough to act.
Why Ndoye needs out
The winger is clearly someone who can hold his own in European competitions. He’s done it before. But Nottingham Forest haven’t qualified for Europe. Not even close.
The instability at the club has impacted him. His performances have suffered. A move to Italy back to familiar surroundings could bring his career back on track.
There’s no surprise, then, that those around him are offering him around.
What happens next?
Roma have options. Zirkzee is the main target. Ndoye is the alternative.
If Roma can’t land Zirkzee or if the price is too high, Ndoye becomes a viable fallback. A cheaper deal. A player who needs rescuing. A club that knows how to revive careers.
Forest, meanwhile, need to cut their losses. Ndoye hasn’t worked out. A sale even at a discount frees up wages and space.
The bottom line
Ndoye was supposed to be a statement signing for Forest. Instead, he’s become a symbol of their chaotic window.
Now he needs out. Roma could be the answer.
Whether they want him is another question. But he’s been offered. The ball is in their court.
A return to Italy feels likely. The only question is which club. And at what price.
