Manchester City have the chance to slash Arsenal’s lead at the Premier League summit to just three points tonight, throwing this remarkable title race wide open. Pep Guardiola’s side host Fulham at the Etihad knowing a win puts the heat squarely on the Gunners before they face a tricky trip to Brentford tomorrow.

It comes after City’s jaw dropping late show at Anfield on Sunday, where two goals in the dying minutes snatched victory from Liverpool. That result could be the seismic shift this campaign needed. “Honestly, in that moment, we thought it was slipping away,” admitted City’s Bernardo Silva. “But this team never believes it’s over.”

City’s form in 2026 has been patchy, with just two wins from seven league games, but their habit of storming the run in under Guardiola is well documented. They’ve got a favourable fixture list too, before Arsenal visit the Etihad in April. Star man Erling Haaland, despite leading the Golden Boot race, knows he must improve. “I haven’t scored enough since the start of this year,” the Norwegian conceded. “I need to be better.”

For Arsenal, the test is mental as much as anything. Mikel Arteta has steadied the ship with four straight wins after a January wobble, but a visit to a Brentford side who’ve only lost twice at home all season is a proper examination of their nerve. Any slip up now, and City are breathing right down their necks.

Meanwhile, the crisis deepens for others. Liverpool’s title defence is in tatters and Champions League football looks a distant dream, sitting four points off the top five. A nightmare trip to Sunderland, the league’s only unbeaten home side awaits, and they’ll be without the banned Dominik Szoboszlai. Boss Arne Slot is under severe pressure.

Down the table, the spotlight burns on two under fire managers. Tottenham and Newcastle, both Champions League knockout sides, meet in a desperate Tuesday night clash in North London. Spurs, just six points above the drop zone, are “desperate” according to their own boss Thomas Frank. Across the dugout, the beloved Eddie Howe insists he’s still the man for Newcastle, but with rumours of England and Man United circling, his future is clouded.

The next 72 hours could define the season. City can strike a psychological blow, Arsenal face a stern test of their resolve, and for the likes of Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle, the pressure is reaching boiling point. The run in has well and truly begun.
