The Wanda Metropolitano is the stage for a swift and fiery La Liga rematch this Saturday, as Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid host Real Betis just days after humiliating them 5-0 in the Copa del Rey.

The cup demolition provided a vital shot in the arm for an Atleti side stung by recent European disappointment and a frustrating league draw with Levante. That result, however, did little to harm their domestic standing, a comfortable ten point buffer over fifth place allows Cholo the luxury of rotation as he plots a sustained assault on the top four.

Simeone is expected to recall big guns like Jan Oblak and Julian Alvarez, but may still rest weary legs such as Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo De Paul ahead of a brutal schedule. The depth of his squad, boosted by January arrivals, means the intensity rarely drops.

For Betis and veteran boss Manuel Pellegrini, the trip back to the capital is a grim test of character. That cup thrashing was a psychological blow, exposing their frailties, especially in attack where the absence of the injured Juan Camilo ‘Cucho’ Hernandez leaves them desperately blunt. The returning Alex Moreno and Ayoze Perez offer some solace, but converting chances against Atleti’s resolute defence remains a monumental task.

Head to Head: A Story of Home Dominance
The history books make grim reading for Betis fans. They have lost on 13 of their last 14 visits to Atleti’s home, managing a pitiful three goals in that run. In five of the last seven meetings overall, one side has failed to score, a stat that typically points to Atleti’s defensive control.

Probable Line ups
*Atletico Madrid (4-4-2):* Oblak; Gantzko, Le Normand, Giménez, Llorente; Baena, Koke, Almada, Simeone; Lookman, Álvarez.
*Real Betis (4-2-3-1):* Valles; Ruibal, Bartra, Llorente, Firpo; Deossa, Roca; Antoni, Fornals, Ez Abde; Avila.

Prediction: Atletico Madrid to Win & Under 3.5 Goals
All logic points to another Atleti victory. The psychological edge from the cup rout, combined with Betis’s travel sickness and attacking woes, is simply too great. Expect Simeone’s side to control the tempo, suffocate Betis, and strike efficiently. A repeat of the 5-0 thrashing is unlikely with league points at stake, but a solid, professional 2-0 win for the hosts feels inevitable. Betis’s priority will be damage limitation, a daunting task at the fortress Metropolitano.
