Atletico Madrid will once again be without first choice goalkeeper Jan Oblak after the Slovenian was left out of Diego Simeone’s squad for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Inter Milan.
Oblak, who also missed the weekend trip to Getafe, took part in Tuesday’s training session at least during the brief window open to the media but has not recovered sufficiently to make the matchday squad. As a result, Argentine shot stopper Juan Musso is set to retain his place between the sticks, with Salvador Esquivel and Mario de Luis acting as back ups.
There is more positive news regarding Nico González and Giuliano Simeone, who had been doubtful due to illness and muscle discomfort respectively. Both players have been included in the squad, though a late decision will determine whether either is fit enough to start at the Metropolitano.
Giuliano, recovering from a knock picked up last Thursday, sat out the Getafe match entirely, while Nico was forced to skip Tuesday’s training session through illness.
Simeone’s options remain stretched elsewhere. Robin Le Normand continues to nurse a serious posterior capsule injury to his left knee and misses out for the third match running, while Marcos Llorente is sidelined after picking up a muscle injury against Getafe.
